SQA results 2014 - hard work achieves high performance for Highland pupils

6th August 2014

Exam candidates across the Highlands got their results by text, email or by post on 5th August 2014.

S4 pupils sat the new National exams for the first time. Their performance in these new exams is testimony to the hard work of all involved. We feel that there is a very solid foundation on which to build over the coming years.

In S5, the percentage of candidates achieving 3+ Highers has continued to improve for the sixth year in a row. It now stands at 30.6%.

Three hundred and sixty one pupils achieved five Highers in one sitting. Seventy six pupils attained five straight A's (twelve at Millburn Academy, eight at Nairn Academy and Culloden Academy, six at Fortrose Academy, Charleston High school and Dingwall Academy and five at Lochaber High school.

In percentage terms, Glen Urquhart High school with three (7.1%) candidates with five A's was one of the best sets of results in the Highlands in this category.

Councillor Alasdair Christie, Chairman of the Highland Council’s Education, Children & Adult Services Committee, said: "I am pleased that once again the hard work of the students, their families and teachers has delivered very good results for the Highlands. Congratulations to them all."
