Attractions of Wick On the John O'Groat Trail - Can You Help?

13th September 2017

As some of you might know the John O Groat trail is hoping to be officially opened next year. The trail will pass through Wick and it was thought that this would be an opportunity to showcase the attractions of Wick for the visiting walkers, those driving the NC500 and others visiting the area. The trail will pass many areas of interest such as the Stevenson breakwater, Pilot House, Roundhouse, Memorial garden, Heritage centre and the Soldiers Tower as well as providing great views of the harbour and Wick bay.

The initial idea is to mark the trail and develop interpretive signs highlighting the natural history and heritage of the area. There will also be the opportunity to sign post other attractions not specifically on the trail such as the riverside and the distillery and generally look to develop the path network in Wick and the surrounding area.

To gauge interest in developing this project and gather ideas a meeting has been arranged in the Mackays hotel at 7pm on the 20th September where Willie Watt from the harbour authority will give a short presentation and then we can look to agree the best way forward to make this happen.

We would be delighted if you are able to attend and I would also be delighted if you could forward this e-mail to anyone you think might have an interest.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

Thanks
