Greigs Foundation - Local Community Projects Fund

The Local Community Projects Fund helps organisations based in local communities to deliver projects or provide equipment to people in need at the heart of our local communities. The programme is administered by seven charity committees throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Please carefully read the following guidelines before starting an application.

Who do we support?

Local Community Projects Funding is offered to organisations supporting people in need. Any not for profit organisation can apply, however, larger organisations with a turnover in excess of £300,000 are unlikely to be successful.

What type of project can we support?

We are interested in projects that improve resilience within your community of interest. This can include sessional activities/respite support, equipment for sessional activities, trips and residential breaks. We are also interested in new approaches and innovative ideas as well as sustainable approaches to supporting your community of interest. We do not fund running costs or continuation of existing and ongoing work.

All projects must support a community of interest, ie people who are:

Disabled or suffering chronic illness
Living in poverty
Voluntary carers
Homeless
Isolated older people
Other demonstrable significant need
Key Performance Targets:

Successful applicants should be able to demonstrate improvements against at least one of our Key Performance Targets to be successful for a grant:

Beneficiaries have decreased social isolation
Beneficiaries report improved health and wellbeing
Beneficiaries report improved resilience/coping mechanisms
Beneficiaries have improved life skills
Beneficiaries have improved opportunities


Excluded items

We are unable to fund the following excluded items:

Ongoing running costs
Contributions towards larger projects/fundraising appeals
Animal charities
Friends of associations
Uniformed groups such as scouts, guides and sea cadets
Sports clubs and associations
Overseas travel
Curricular activities that take place during the school day
Religious promotion
Research grants
Repayment of loans
Purchase of vehicles
Medical Equipment
Major capital projects
Sponsorship of events or activities


Where can we make grants?

We are more likely to make grants to local organisations based near Greggs shops. Please use the shop locator on the Greggs website to find your nearest shop.

How much can we can give?

The maximum grant that we can give is £2,000.

What are your chances of success?

The programme is over-subscribed and there is huge competition for the grants available. Please don't be too disappointed if we are unable to support your project. We are unable to give tailored feedback on every application, however we will let you know whether it has been successful as early as we can.

If you don't receive an email it is likely that somthing has gone wrong. Please contact Greggs Foundation on 0191 2127626 and we can help you.

To make any significant changes to the application after submission, please email greggsfoundation@greggs.co.uk You can expect a decision within 8 weeks of the deadline date. Greggs Foundation is highly over-subscribed and reserves the right to close the application window if we've received more good quality applications than we are able to fund. We will notify you here if we are unable to accept applications.

Round 3 is now closed with results being announced no later than 25th November 2016.

Round 1 (2017) is now open and closes on 3rd March 2017 with results being announced no later than 28th April 2017.
