Women's Aid Refuge in Wick closing but services continues

20th February 2013

From 30th April 2013 we will no longer be providing temporary accommodation (refuge) in the Caithness and Sutherland area. At this time we will be moving to an outreach only service with office bases in the Thurso, Wick and Golspie areas.

We believe these developments will better able us to provide the support required by women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse in the area. Workers from our outreach service will work with women, children and young people in their own homes (where it is safe to do so) or in safe places in the communities we operate in.

We will continue to work with individuals to improve their safety and help them ensure their needs are met. Where required we will work with other Women’s Aid Groups across the country to secure safe accommodation where this is an identified need.

We are working with Highland Council and other agencies to ensure that these changes cause as little disruption as possible to those we currently work with and to future service users. Our telephone contact details (0845 408 0151) and email address info[AT]caswa.org.uk
