A local organisation supporting children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse has received a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.

Caithness & Sutherland Womens Aid Children & Young Peoples Service was awarded 1,545,00 by Peoples Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of Peoples Postcode Lottery.

The organisation has used the money to purchase a varied range of therapeutic resources including games, books and toys to help children and young people address their experiences, fears and feelings during 1-1 and group support sessions run by their key support workers.

Sandra Baxter, a Children & Young Peoples Support Worker with CASWA stated this funding is a great boost to our service, enabling us to purchase resources which can be used during support sessions with children and young people to help address difficult issues with them in a non-threatening and child-friendly way.

Peoples Postcode Lottery is Britains charity lottery. Players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes. As a charity lottery, 2 from every monthly lottery ticket charities and community initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales, including Peoples Postcode Trust. Peoples Postcode Lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised by players in each country, stays in that country.
