A local organisation supporting children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse has received a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.

Caithness & Sutherland Women’s Aid – Children & Young People’s Service was awarded £1,545,00 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The organisation has used the money to purchase a varied range of therapeutic resources including games, books and toys to help children and young people address their experiences, fears and feelings during 1-1 and group support sessions run by their key support workers.

Sandra Baxter, a Children & Young People’s Support Worker with CASWA stated “this funding is a great boost to our service, enabling us to purchase resources which can be used during support sessions with children and young people to help address difficult issues with them in a non-threatening and child-friendly way.

People’s Postcode Lottery is Britain’s charity lottery. Players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes. As a charity lottery, £2 from every monthly lottery ticket charities and community initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales, including People’s Postcode Trust. People’s Postcode Lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised by players in each country, stays in that country.
