Still time to submit Your Cash Your Caithness applications - Deadline 2nd February
Local groups in Caithness are reminded that the closing date for Your Cash Your Caithness applications is drawing near and to be in with a chance of receiving a share of £10,000.00, forms need to be received by 5.00pm on Sunday 2nd February 2020.   £10,000.00 of funding is available to let the local community decide for themselves which projects are needed in their area.

More Money Up For Grabs For Local Groups With Your Cash Your Caithness
The Highland Council took receipt of £9,497 from the old Caithness Partnership earlier in 2019 on condition that these funds were set aside and used in a Your Cash Your Caithness funding event.   The Highland Council have topped this amount up to £10,000 now to let the local community once again decide for themselves which projects are needed in their area.

Early in the morning 19 January 2020 Annie Rose WK889 suffered a burst pipe whilst out fishing, causing the vessel to be inoperable.  Karen Jane WK36 came to her aid and safely towed her into Scrabster Harbour..

Early Learning and Childcare expansion
Families can now enrol children for funded places for August.   A nationwide public information campaign is encouraging families to enrol their children for funded early learning and childcare ahead of a major expansion this summer.

Volunteers helping tackle food bank misery
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has thanked compassionate community volunteers who are helping those facing hunger in Scotland.   Ms Sturgeon was in Kinross to express her gratitude to Broke not Broken, a volunteer-led project, which runs a food bank and advice hub offering people support before they end up in a crisis situation.

With expert guidance from the crew of Pentland Ferries "Alfred" this lorry safely loads onto the ferry at Gills Harbour, Caithness, today (9 January 2019), for her crossing to St Margarets Hope.   Sea swells were evident, making the job even harder & causing the ferry to be delayed.

In the second year of running in the SQA's Award in Cyber Security Fundamentals Wick High is delighted that 37 S3 pupils received the award.   After spending two months learning about cyber security threats and how to defend against them, pupils sat an exam that covered both the theory and practical elements of the course.
