Wed, Sat, Sun 2 - 4pm All Year Winter exhibition - Domestic Artefacts Over Time – Looking at the change in technology in the home as the years have gone by.  Marine Exhibition – Models of ships that carried flagstone from Castlehill, marine charts, artefacts from marine life.

This article appeared in the Caithness Field Club Bulletin for 2013.   Perched on a rocky hilltop overlooking the Kyle of Tongue this small tower was described in 1791 as, "a structure so antient, that there is no consistent tradition concerning it"i.

The answer is a coffee and carols session at the Norseman Hotel on Saturday, in aid of Caithness Heart Support Group.  I'll be playing the carols and other festive favourites from 10am-noon so if you fancy a cuppa and a 'bickie', why not have a break from your shopping and take the weight off your feet for a mere £2.

CHRISTMAS BREAK FROM ANCESTOR SEARCH
Caithness Family History Society volunteers, who man our office in Caithness Horizons, Thurso, on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons between 2 and 4, will be having a break in December and January.   We will be happy to see you again in February.

BIG CHEQUE and a sizeable amount to match...that's the sum total of a charity cycling challenge undertaken by Wick riders Arthur Robertson (left) and Willie Macdonald, recently.   The enterprising pair clocked up some 78 miles circling the county in demanding weather conditions, to raise a impressive £2,500 for Caithness Heart Support Group.

Published in the Caithness Field Club Bulletin Vol 8 No.  1 - April 2013 Mr Clark, A Caithness Remittance Man (by George Watson) The John O'Groat Journal, March 2nd 1836, carried the following obituary:- "Died on 9th ultimo, at the house of Mr Sutherland of Bylbster parish of Watten in the County, Mr James Clark, generally believed to have been the husband of the late celebrated Mrs Mary Ann Clark remarkable for having acted such a conspicuous part during the trial of his Royal Highness the late Duke of York.
